Ash Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the Catholic year. It is a yearly reminder of our mortality and our short presence on this Earth.
Knowing that any and every day could be your last drastically changes your outlook on life. It changes the way you speak to people, your outlook on your career, even how you view relationships with other people.
It has taken nearly 16 years of Catholicism for me to appreciate and grasp the meaning of this day. For me, personally, it has changed the way that I view money, it has changed the way that I view time, and most importantly, it has changed the way I see myself.
It is a yearly reminder of our mortality and our short presence on this Earth.
I see it every day, people going to and from a job that they either hate or could care less about, people saving every penny they ever make and never living a day in their life, people letting time pass them by as if there will always be a tomorrow.
Tomorrow is not a guarantee. Think about that for a second.
Life is a series of adventures that are strung together to create a unique experience for each individual. So live today, experience today, take control of today.
Thanks for listening to my soapbox, now get out there and CHASE ADVENTURE!
